A very regular morning walker, my friend was missing for quite some time. When accidentally I did meet her, she explained her absence. She was busy attending on her elder sister, who was undergoing treatment for her eyes, and accompanying her to the hospital frequently, kept her busy.I was puzzled, since though she was quite close to me, she had never mentioned the presence of an elder sister among her siblings.Yes, she agreed. They had been out of touch for almost 15 years and now destiny had brought them together.
Her sister had married very young. But fate was cruel, and she lost her husband. Soon after, left with a fat bank balance and a three year old child, she immersed herself raising her child and chasing her dream of a successful career. She lost no time in snapping family ties, for reasons best known to her.Life was quite peaceful ,when again fate intervened and she lost her only son too.Unsuccessful in the career front, she fended for herself by teaching in a school and providing tuition.Money ran out and she was all alone. She was nearing 60 and health problems surfaced and she longed for the love of her lost family.
Her egoistic attitude set aside, she initiated the first step of ironing out all differences by telephoning her sister(my friend) after so many years. My friend reciprocated and now she was helping her during her difficult times.Affections kindled, they are a happy twosome now! I happened to meet them a few days back and her sister emotionally remarked that she was repenting for all the irreplaceable years in her life. She missed so much and now she was making up for it.Truly she was basking in the warmth of love and forgiveness. She seemed peaceful and there was so much life and enthusiasm in her face. This was something I had not seen earlier. Both the sisters were filled with nostalgia for everything they had taken for granted and never found time to appreciate.Better late than never! Now they are making up for the lost time.
Life would be better for all of us if forgiveness won out!
